2014 Fox Lea Farm Open Hunter/Jumper Awards Banquet
This was the third year in a row I was honored to Emcee the Fox Lea Farm awards banquet and my ninth year announcing at Fox Lea. I have seen many things happen here and I had some thoughts on what this year meant to many who have been a part of this journey with me…in the spot light…and not. This year was about changes. If you didn’t attend this years awards ceremony, here is a small part of what I thought this past season was about.
The family here at Fox Lea family has had a lot changes this year. We have said goodbye to old friends headed for new adventures and welcomed fresh faces that will be part of an exciting new year. Author Gail Sheehy says “If we don’t change, we don’t grow, if we don’t grow, we aren’t really living”. We all learn from the challenges we face, or at least we hope we do, so although the blue ribbon may have eluded you as a rider this time, ask yourself “What have I learned that will bring me closer to my goal?” As a trainer, looking back at a successful year, what changes did you make that helped you grow, and helped your students achieve their goals? For each of you here tonight, you have grown, as riders, trainers, managers and as individuals. The changes you have allowed yourself to make, whether easy or difficult, by choice or by circumstance, have enabled you to grow. It’s that growth that we celebrate tonight at this award ceremony.
I have enjoyed another year working with some fantastic people and friends and I say Thanks to all of you.
