“It’s A Wrap”

The last Grand Prix of “Camp” 2016 is in the record books. The final Prix was won by the Belgian Warmblood gelding, Gomez Van De Withoeve (by Enrico Van De Withoeve from Comptess Van De Dael) owned by rider Kyle Dewar and his wife Kathy Frame-Dewar.  This was the first Grand Prix won by the combination; however, Kyle and “Gomez” placed 7th previously in the camp series. Kyle said he was especially pleased to win this class as “Gomez” is Ada and Jackson’s (the Dewar’s children) favorite horse and he added that he felt very proud as “it was the most technically difficult Grand Prix of the 5 here at Camp”.  A compliment to Course Designer Tucker Williams for his ability to bring out the best in both the horse and rider and showcase their abilities. The blue ribbon in the Grand Prix is a good match with the blue, as well as the red ribbon he earned during the “Plain Brown Wrapper” show as Kyle was 1st and 2nd in the National Hunter Derby.

Our red ribbon winner is no stranger to the winners circle at Fox Lea.  Derek Petersen, riding his own mount Co Pilot, have finished in the top 12 of the Welcome Stakes and the Grand Prix every show of this seasons “Camp” series. Mr. Petersen also came 11th today riding Diamant’s Legacy, a horse that has dominated the Grand Prix’s during camp.

Savannah Unger and her ten year old mare Nana Mia earned herself the 3rd place finished.  She and Nana Mia have placed in the top 10 of 4 of the 5 of the Prix in Venice. Although she is much younger than some other the other competitors in this Grand Prix, She has proved that age matters not when paired with talent.  Savannah is thrilled with her experience here at Fox Lea and as looks forward to returning to Fox lea in the future.
